Conceived as a country retreat for a wealthy London professional, the property dates back to the 1840s and has many charming period features from the era. The building was a private residence until at least the 1930s, and occupied a large plot - the original red brick perimeter wall still stands. The original coach house also thankfully still exists, and can be seen on Moorcourt Drive just behind the Hotel. The property was converted into a hotel (and effectively rescued) in the early ‘sixties by the previous owners who ran Cotswold Grange for over 40 years.
